Steward Your Secret Place

Hello my brothers and sisters in the Lord… long time no talk. It has been quite some time since I have posted a blog entry on the website, but in truth I truly feel like the Lord has allowed me to take some time away from the social media platforms and has graced me to correctly steward the platform that really matters: The Secret Place.

This year is going to be a mighty year for the kingdom of God…ultimately for the Lord’s glory. All the signs, miracles and wonders that will come forth should ultimately be birthed through intimacy with our beloved bridegroom.

The Bible says that where our heart is, is where our treasure is (Matthew 6:21). At the beginning of the same chapter, the Lord Jesus instructs us on how to do charitable deeds and pray…

‘“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.  But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,  that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly’(Matthew 6:1-6).

In these verses, the Lord emphasizes the importance of doing things in secret rather than looking for the applause of man. He explains that there is a special form of intimacy and humility birthed in times where we choose to allow the Lord to flow through us and give Him all of the glory rather than seeking for our own. Verse 4 and 6 both mention that ‘the Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly’. I truly believe that this reward is Himself. When our heart is in Jesus, we delight in the reward that is His very presence as that is where our treasure lies. That is what our heart should be longing for.  Hallelujah!

If we are only serving the Lord for what His hand can grant us, we won’t be able to stand in the evil day against such opposition. It is ONLY in the Secret place where we keep our hearts burning for our beloved Savior.

It is my prayer that as the year continues to go on, that we cultivate such a deep intimacy with Jesus so that when He desires to use us for His glory, we are not moved by the applause of man for we know where our strength comes from. It is only by His grace. I pray that we don’t chase the signs, the miracles and the wonders because we recognize that HE IS THE MIRACLE. HE IS THE SIGN. HE IS THE WONDER. I pray that we would burn in first love towards Him and that everything we do would come from an overflow of first love.

I encourage you to pray this out loud:

King Jesus,

I thank you. I pray Lord that you would teach me how to steward our secret place. Set my heart on fire for you Lord. Keep me close to you. I ask Lord that nothing in this world would take my gaze off of you. I pray that everything I do comes from an overflow of our time together. I love you with all my heart. In Jesus name.

Amen.

‘Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.’
